Photo Safe Pro Decryption Errors
Jan/22/12 09:26
It has come to our attention that some customer are experiencing decryption errors for Photo Safe Pro and Photo Safe. We believe this is due to a bug in the iOS encryption routines that started in iOS 5.x. We have reported a bug to Apple and are waiting (hoping) for a fix to this problem.
Our products have been using the exact same encryption and decryption routines since iOS 3.x all through iOS 4.x and now with iOS 5.x. Only since iOS 5.x have we had these reports. We are disappointed that Apple seems to have introduced a bug in their long time working code, but that seems to be the situation.

Oct/16/11 12:38
MEO Photo Pro and MEO Photo require Location Services to be turned on because before these apps can access the Photos library on your device, Apple’s iOS requires it to be turned on. This is because there may be location data associated with photos and Apple wants users to know that third party apps have access to location data. ALL third party apps that access the Photos libraries through the new APIs starting in iOS 4.0 have this same requirement.
MEO Photo Pro and MEO Photo don’t access the location information at this time. In the future we reserve the right to access that info if we add new features to the apps that would benefit end users.
We don’t like this anymore than our customers. We have submitted bug against the iOS system in hopes that Apple will remove the requirement to have Location Services turned on. We think it is appropriate for Apple to ask users if our apps can access the location data, but we’re not convinced that Location Services needs to be turned on to accomplish that protection.

iPhone Crash Reports
Mar/08/11 07:09
If one of our iPhone applications possesses the extreme temerity to crash on you, we’d like to find out why. To do so, we’ll need certain information from you.
After the app crashes, it leaves a crash report on your device. Please send those to us for analysis of the problem here is how:
Mac OS X : ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/
NOTE: If you are running Lion you the ~/Library director is hidden, this is new in Lion. To view it, when you're in the Finder do a cmd-shift-g and type in ~/Library to open that hidden directory. This is what you will see when you do a cmd-shift-g, then type in ~/Library

Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/
Windows 7 or Vista: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/MobileDevice/
The log file names start with application name and have the extension “crash”. The logs themselves are just text files, so you can attach them to an email. Which brings us to the next step.

MEO Photo Update Issue Not asking for a password. Reboot your device
Oct/03/10 09:19
It has been reported by a number of customers that after updating to the new MEO Photo 2.1, it no longer asks for the password.
We are looking into this issue, but it has something to do with the iTunes update process and as such, it was not possible for us to test the app in that situation, so this issue slipped by us. We can assure you that MEO Photo asks for a password in all other normal usage situations.
The good news is that rebooting your device seems to solve the issue. Please give that a try.

Problem: My Eyes Only, ID Lock or MEO Free "Data set, waiting for response"
- On the iPhone: Data sent, waiting on response
- On the bottom of the Aerochive window: Receiving data....
This is a known issue and a fix is in progress. Workaround: Add another item or dummy item anywhere in the app and try a backup. This will get around the issue. Note: It can happen again, because the problem is due to the size of the data that is being transfered to Aerochive.
Update: We believe that this issue has been resolved. If it is happening to you please contact our support using the support email on this page.

iPhone App Backup, is it actually backing up?
Jun/25/09 14:44
Software Ops has had a number of customers who have lost all the applications and their application data when they have updated to iPhone OS 3.0. This is very troubling and puzzling to us because iTunes will make an automatic backup of all your apps and their date when you sync. But there seems to be a catch....
Here is a link to the details of how iTunes does app backups: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Everybody should read this in detail.

Restoring your backup
Jun/21/09 06:34
The backup and restore mechanism is created by Apple and works the same for all iPhone applications. iTunes backs up your data automatically every time you connect your iPhone to your computer. Please note that iTunes will not back up an iPhone that is not configured to sync with that computer.
However there is one problem: If you lose your data (e.g. by removing an application from your iPhone) and connect your iPhone again to your computer, iTunes automatically overwrites the existing backup with a new one. Since you just lost your data on the device, this will effectively delete your previous backup from iTunes! To prevent this, you need to do the following:

- Disable automatic syncing for your iPhone in iTunes’ preferences before you connect the iPhone again (iTunes > Preferences > Syncing > Disable automatic syncing for all iPhones and iPods).
- Connect your iPhone and wait until it appears in iTunes’ sidebar. Since syncing is disabled, iTunes won’t back up your data automatically.
- Click on the Restore button in iTunes and it will take you though the entire Restore process and it will restore the backup of MEO that was last saved during your last sync/backup.
- When iTunes asks you to select the device to restore from, make sure you select the proper device and don’t create a new device.

iTunes Keeps a Backup of MEO Data
Mar/18/09 10:16
During the sync process with iTunes, iTunes takes a backup of MEO and all its data. This is true for all other applications and data on your iPhone or iPod Touch. iTunes only keeps the latest data in case it becomes necessary to restore the data back to your device or a different device in yours was lost or stolen.
Also note that Software Ops is working on an archiving desktop application.

MEO just dosn't seem to work correctly? Reboot!
Mar/04/09 20:52
Software Ops has had a number of support emails complaining about totally unrelated problems that I can only describe by paraphrasing; “the UI not working like it should” or “MEO isn’t behaving like I would expect”. I realize my descriptions are not specific, but they do capture the essence of the problems described by customers.
When we get one of these emails and are dumfounded by the problem, we first suggest to the customer they reboot their device by turning in off and then on again. I’m always amazed when I get an email back claiming that fixed the problem. I’m going to stop being amazed and just offer this bit of advice to all who reads this post.
If you are having problems with MEO or your device in general, please reboot and see if the problem still occurs.
Also, I suggest that if you chose to download app updates on your device, please don’t; but if you have to, reboot first.

Lost Passwords and Password Recovery
Sep/21/08 19:35
A new feature in version 1.2 is a means to recover a forgotten password when you enter a password recovery question and answer to that question. The thing to remember about this feature is that it will not help you recover a password prior to version 1.2 because you could not enter a question and answer until 1.2. This also means you need to take the time to enter a question and answer in version 1.2.
To add a password recovery and answer, go to Settings -> Password Settings and click on the button Change Password and Hint. After you enter your existing password you then are asked to select a new password (the old one will work if you like that password), enter a Hint and then enter a recovery question and answer.
Understand that having a question and answer is like having a second password. Also understand that you are giving a person the ability to figure out your password. That is how Sarah Palin’s email account was hacked. The hacker used the build in Yahoo password recovery question and answer with a bit of social engineering to answer her question and then reset her password. Don’t let that happen to you.
Pick a question that only you can answer.
I broke what bone?
Where did I catch my first fish?
Who was the first girl that kissed me? (This was a blast from the past!)
